There’s.. er.. Norway to say goodbye

Before losing my “teenage status” in the mid 90’s, I had the chance to live a few years in probably the worst ranked decade of the XX century, at least in music reviews. Before becoming a shoegazer, before wishing to be Kim Deal’s husband (and PJ Harvey’s lover), before playing air guitar on Pumpkins’ “Cherub rock” and headbanging to NIN’s “March of the pigs”, my favourites were Alphaville, Talk Talk, Duran Duran, Depeche Mode.. (I discovered The Cure and The Smiths only later).
And norwegian pop-wonder A-ha.
Their decision to split after 25 years of career won’t spoil my mood, but.. I mean: Klaxons, MGMT, Foals, CSS, Mystery Jets, The Presets (and maany others) can retrieve and steal tunes, sounds and clothes from the 80s.. why can’t I?
A tribute to 80s pop and a celebration of me growing old. Begrudgely.
(Grrreat song. Approved even by Coldplay)

oh, wow. nostalgia! memories! i’ve been there. alphaville’s “forever young” album is one of the first albums i have a clear memory of listening to and enjoying, my dad had the good taste to buy it when it came out. and i still like depeche mode a lot. there’s still the occasional 80’s synth pop disco going on in my living-room.. :)
