Whale’s sound, S.Darko and braces

And so “S.Darko” came out in Italy last Friday.
I think I’m not going to go to the cinema to see it: I read a few negative reviews, here and there, and a friend of mine who found “Donnie Darko” at least interesting, told me this sequel has nothing of the peculiar mood of the first movie.
Honestly, I still can’t tell whether I liked “Donnie Darko” or not: I think I belong to that crowded type of audience who didn’t get the meaning of the movie (however neither the director nor the scriptwriter got it, I suppose), who lost himself in trying to put an order in the tangle of time loops and stretchings, but.. got impressed by the general gloomy and dusky feel, and the sense of oncoming doom in which every scene was soaked.
Anyway..
By chance I saw “Making the movie: S.Darko” on TV yesterday, and I picked a song that was soundtracking something resembling a spookier version of “The O.C.”.
It was “Hobo Humpin’ Slobo Babe” by 90s abrasive sensasion “Whale” from Sweden: there was a time when they seemed to become something big (I also had bought myself their 1995 “We Care“).
Try asking a 30 something indie guy “who’s Whale?” now.. all that you can get is “Whale.. Whale.. uh! the band with that female singer with braces?”.
However the single still sounds quite good, actually..
