This is not my list!! (a bunch of awesome songs of 2008)
The end of the year is near. But on the net there’s plenty of “best songs of 2008″ lists already.
Yes, I’ll probably post mine, one of these days. A very pointless and messy one, that’s for sure.
(PTBJ contributors, please!.. don’t upload any list until.. let’s say.. the 15th of december, kay? I’m not done with mine yet!)
But, for now, I’m just sneaking around, just taking some furtive peeks at other bloggers / net users’ lists. Just to get to know how many masterpieces I’ve guiltily missed so far.
And so..
Here’s some nice songs I found included in many “best of 2008″ indie inventories, and totally unknown to me. How could I have not noticed them?
Randomly, here we go.
Enjoy
M83 - Graveyard girl
Why? - Song of the sad assassin
Nada Surf - See these bones (totally forgot about them.. How could I??..)
Stephen Malkmus - Gardenia (the same as for Nada Surf..)
Fleet Foxes - White Winter Hymnal
Johnny Foreigner - Salt, Peppa and Spinderella

know what, boss? Some minutes ago I accidentally found an old playlist you had posted here.. it was april. The Fleet Foxes were there (with “Mykonos”)!!
and there were The Foals, too: I was about to upload their “Cassius” here. among the “songs of 2008 I missed” (I totally ignored their last three singles. I knew “Balloons” and “Mathletics” only)

Well, obviously I’m very up on these things.
Also, Foals are awesome. I’d love to see them live. I hear they’re kind of explosive.

the m83 song is awesome! i dismissed m83 a few years ago, i listened to a few random songs in preparation for the roskilde festival when they played (2005), didn’t care for it and never bothered again (don’t remember if i saw them play though). thanks for clearing up that mistake.
i like the fleet foxes video, and the sweet song too. fleet foxes are sweet. and the last video! cool, never heard of either. but seriously. nada surf. they were great 10 years ago, but this? it’s boooring.

mm.. I think you’re right about Nada Surf.
this was meant to be a “what I’ve missed” list.
and, for Nada Surf, as well as for Malkmus, the emotional factor prevailed, took over the “artistic” one. Both two 90s icons are not at their best, here, actually.
when I noticed I had totally ignored Matthew Caws & C., I didn’t resist: I just felt the need to wedge their “See the bones” here. A sort of.. tribute.
(I’ll “repair” to this shifty and criminal action of mine in my next post!)
