Film School: “Compare”
Can’t tell how many times I happened to read their name on the net. But, don’t know why, I’ve never listened to any of their songs before. Could it depend on the name in itself? Maybe. Maybe I tied it to someone else’s roaring muscled rock, like Girlschool, Rival Schools, or.. er.. Disney’s High School Musical, episodes I, II and III.
However, a few days ago, I accidentally stumbled upon their latest release, and it was love at first sight.
(I’m not sure whether it’s a release or not, actually: so far, at this moment, I haven’t found any single or e.p. named “Compare”. However.. it’s taken from their 2007 album, “Hideout”)
Okay, I’m an unrepentant shoegaze lover, but this song is pretty good anyhow, whether you’re into My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive, etc.. or not.
You’ll find “Compare” in my “best of 2008″ list, coming up very soon on this site.
Forgetting.. these are the links to their official site and to their myspace page.
Uh.. forgetting #2: you can download four excellent tracks (included “Compare”) from their ultra-recent Daytrotter session. Just click here.
Enjoy

well.. it’s something I’ve often wondered about..
a post about shoegazing, made by real shoegazing lovers.. I’ve always wanted it to be perfect: info, details, but “passion”, too.
and so.. I’d like you to write it. I’m sure your post will be just what I have in my mind, that however I wouldn’t be able to put into words.

it sounds like an activity that involves looking at pretty shoes. i like shoes. i got rid of a bunch of stuff and now only have like 25 pairs. i need more shoes…
…what were we talking about?

i guess, technically, more looking at your own shoes, when you’re wearing them, but it probably works looking at other shoes too. as long as you do it with a bent head.
