Christmas 2008. Gifts and self-gifts
Is there anything better than writing a post about Christmas gifts, indie pop and intriguing books, muffled up in my comfy pajama pants and shirt (yes, I’m irresistibly sexy. Definitely), while gobbling sugar sprinkled cookies, on a Christmas afternoon?
However..
As you can realize by yourself by looking at the pictures above, this was a grrreat Christmas (is “judging your own personal Christmas by the gifts you received” MORAL? Hell yes!).
Nada Surf’s “Lucky“, The Spinto Band “Nice and nicely done” (The Spinto band are among PTBJ’s favourites; see here and here), The Ting Tings’ “We started nothing” (how to be filthy mainstream and good at the same time), The Cure’s “The only one” cd single, D&G perfume (yes, I like to smell like I have some style, even though I have none. So what?) , Jonathan Coe’s “La famiglia Winshaw” ( = “What a carve up! - The Winshaw legacy”), “Londra noir” (noir London stories by different authors), a marvellous popcorn-making machine.. and other things I appreciated so much.
I love gifts, making and receiving. But I’ve never tried the satisfating taste of a self Christmas gift before.
While wandering from shop to shop through the Christmas crowd I stumbled upon some juicy discount offers, like the ones in the picture above on the right: a Blur video collection (euro 9,90: it was 31,90!) and, above all, “Pygmalion” (1995) by Slowdive (guiltily, I had only a copied cd of it), hidden and buried under piles of rubbish-on-cd.
And so..
To celebrate my shamefully selfish and material Christmas 2008, and to wish you a wonderfully emotional and deep one, here’s a vid for you.
Again, Merry Christmas everybody.

Merry Christmas, Sergio!
I bought myself Nice and Nicely Done for Christmas. I figure I’ve been pretty good this year.

Merry Christmas to both of you!!
you both are so lucky: snow in this period is like.. cinnamon powder sprinkled on a vanilla ice cream!
Merry merry merry Christmas again!
(I hope I manage to upload my “best of 2008″ list before.. 2009!)
