Best singles of 2008 (singles I liked, here and there, in 2008. Sooooo personal)

Let’s make things clear: this is NOT a chart. I ain’t got any chart. Because I’m so.. messy, and because during this 2008 I listened to not so many songs (let alone entire albums).
I compiled this list according to one rule only: “If it sounds good to my ears, then it’s good”. Period. No matter how catchy, cheesy, “commercial” a song is. No matter whether it’s Animal Collective or Beyoncè.
And..
If you won’t find any of your favourites here, it’s pretty much possible that I.. simply haven’t listened to them!
(however.. I strongly recommend you to take a look at the “2008 useless awards” post!!)
Hope you’ll appreciate my efforts (39 singles. Thirrrrty-nine!).
This is my last post of 2008. So.. I wish you a HAPPY NEW (indie) YEAR!!!

Enjoy.

In no particular order.. TA-DAAAN!!

  2. jenny

shit. i’m blogging me icon. awesome song! are you singing all of it or just the awesome half screaming?

  3. Sergio

    Hell yess!!
Maybe it’s just an.. “obsession of the moment”, and maybe it’s going to melt very soon.
But I think that their ear-friendly pop is one of the freshest of these days.

“Me Gadget”: I actually sang the whole song.
    And co-wrote the lyrics.
And co-chose the melody of the voice with both Dino and Gianni.
Before Dino left Sardinia to definitely move to London (2003), we recorded four songs, me and him. I tried to finish the mixing duty with a friend of us here in Sardinia, but we never came to an end.
Believe me, they’re pretty good (Dino was not into disco yet: it’s a sort of.. not cheesy pop, with distorted guitars, and some noisy / shoegaze parts here and there). To me at least.
Maybe this year we’ll manage to “release” this e.p. somehow.
The name of the duo was “Nixon”.

(thank you so much, Jenny. It was very kind of you)

I keep hearing about this stuff. Really interesting. I have looked online and found some other blogs that offer some information, but not as much as on this site. Your blog is definitely going in my subscription program!
