the not awaited final video #1 of willirob’s best
Due to the apparent popularity of my last favorite video, and the apparent [read: unintentional] presence of Ben Gibbard in my last video, I decided to push forward with my favorite video.
So this is my favorite video of the year. Videographically, it takes after the cinema-verite planned impulse of recent fame, but a total surprise coming from the last two Darnielle vids, both of which that use clean cuts and slow pans despite even the violent nature of This Year. A really cool part of this video, aside from the general feel of it and the costume and set design, is the autoscriptiological, and yes that is a word I mostly made up. Basically, I’m just trying to be succinct and state that they are spelled in a manner that describes their action, much like children’s books. As I am a greek student dealing with primarily latin roots, that may not be the best desciptor but it’s the best I can do. Anyways, the intensity of peter hughs and john darnielle is always something to marvel at - to me at least- and this video is a clear example of both of them at their best.
