The Gutter Twins: anime scure*

(* = dark souls)

Saw this video on QOOB last night.
A really stupid video with dorks wasting time by breaking things or putting them to flames / making’em explode.
But.. man, what a song! I mean, those voices.. if I had to draw up my “best male singers of the 90s” list, Mark Lanegan and Greg Dulli would occupy second and third position for sure (and my kermit-like voice would be at #1 position, obviously).
The song is “Idle Hands”, The Gutter Twins‘ first single taken from their first album Saturnalia (released last march). Yes, I’m guilty, I’ve never listened to anything by this meraviglioso duo, apart some live recordings here an there on Youtube.
Everyone knows Mark Lanegan, I suppose. To me, he will always be Screaming Trees‘ singer (uh.. what’s this noise? oh, it’s just my heart choking from 90s nostalgia). Period.
If hell was some kind of hotel, or a spa, its receptionist would have Lanegan’s voice.
Not everyone knows Greg Dulli, probably. I think I can forgive you, this time only, if you rush and buy / download The Afghan Whigs‘ discography NOW.
However..
This is “Idle Hands” played live on the BBC (there’s also a “Letterman” version somewhere).
But.. if you dislike live performances, and if you dig on flamethrowers and exploding watermelons, you can otherwise watch the official video here, you perv.
Enjoy

The Gutter Twins - Idle Hands (2008 - live on the BBC)

Forgetting.. Jocelyn, if you happened to go to Lollapalooza.. The Gutter Twins are going to play there on Saturday the 2nd..

Much as I like The Gutter Twins, I am boycotting Lollapalooza due to my newfound hatred of music festivals. I am, however, going to a Flogging Molly + The Smoking Popes after show, so that’s just as cool.

    oh my oh my..
one of my favourite singles ever.
my 90s heart is in pieces, now.
(I slightly prefer “Debonair”, don’t know why. the album is a total masterpiece)

(and, now and then, Lanegan reminds me of.. Will Ferrell!)
