The Dilemma of the Perfect Love Song

Does the perfect love song exist?
A modern sonnet in the form of a three-minute tune, where murmuring violins merge with a sensual bass-line throughout the verse, leading the listener to that long-awaited chorus, where the declaration of never-ending love takes place. Finding the right words and putting them into a poem or song has always been human […]

RIP Bands Who Are No Longer With Us: A Northern Chorus

This, my friends, is a tragedy. A Northern Chorus is possibly the only good band I’ve ever seen at the Railway Club, and ever since that fateful night I’ve always sort of thought of them as the little band that could. They were the ones who first made me ask the question, “why is there […]

I sent them the dry-cleaning bill, but they refused to pay (saying that they could not be […]

Extraordinarily Belated Concert Review: DeVotchKa

This post has been a long time coming, mostly because I have been (and still am) somewhat unsure as to how I feel about this concert. Not that it was bad, of course. It was really great and the opening act (Basia Bulat) was really great and the crowd was really pumped but…

The Party’s Over: Goodbye Sundays

Tomorrow, Sunday, the 18th of May, almost every Italian boy/man will have to go through the most depressing day of the whole year.
It’s something cruelly cyclical.
It comes along every sing year.
On a Sunday, in May or June.
Yes, tomorrow the Campionato di Calcio di Serie A (Italian Soccer Championship, First Division) ends.
