I recently came across an album called Invitation Songs by The Cave Singers. When I say “came across” what I mean is I stuck it on my iTunes and never thought about it again until “Helen” came up on my shuffle. Now this has happened to me… never, but I literally made it about 20 seconds into the song before I made the decision to listen to the entire album immediately. And let me tell you, it is, in a word, incredible. Really outstanding. 

The sound is folk, but sophisticated. It’s interesting and original without being abrasive. It’s just… really fucking great. Like I listen to a LOT of different music, most of which is new to me. And as a result I have to sift my way through a lot of crap, and a lot of stuff that I like but I wish was just a little bit better. Invitation Songs (The Cave Singers’ first release), however, is just perfect. It’s the reason I do what I do. 

I really recommend investigating this album, guys. Like seriously you should do it. They’ve also done a Daytrotter session, which is awesome, if you want to get a taste before you BUY THIS ALBUM.
