Guilty Pleasure Bands
by Luke
I don’t care who you are, chances are you like at least one band that most people either hate or find incredibly stupid. At least I know I do. Every second band I mention seems to get one of those sideways looks of disapproval.
I figured for my guest blog I’d throw down one of my many guilty pleasure bands. So without further ado, here is one of my favorite bands that you probably hate:
If you grew up in Canada, don’t tell me you didn’t have “Sucks to be You”, “Strange Disease” or even “www.Nevergetoveryou” stuck in your head at some point of your life.
A lot of people don’t know how much 90’s ass James McCollum and Jason Levine of The Philosopher Kings kicked in Canada under the guise of Prozzak, but they should. With their first album ‘Hot Show’ and follow up success ‘Saturday People’ they won my heart with their stupid songs about failed romance, animated music videos and REALLY wicked guitar riffs.
They’re still kicking around; they even released another, if not less popular album 3 years ago, ‘Cruel Cruel World’. No one seemed to realize it came out. I didn’t find it until 2007. They changed their character style and their sound, but kept the theme of failed romance.
THEN:
NOW:
Go ahead, listen to them and see what a real 90’s pop sensation sounds like.

I love Prozzak too, Luke. I had a crush on the little one. Is that weird?

Yeah, if it was on the cartoon character. A little weird.
If it was on the actual bassist of Prozzak? That’s alright.

Johnny Publik has always had a soft spot for Boston albums. Johnny Publik swears he is under 30.

Jocelyn has tried effexor, and prefers Prozzak. Also, Jocelyn happens to know that Johnny Publik is BARELY under 30.

Johnny Publik thanks Jocelyn for her wit and discretion.
